The Highest Tide, by Jim Lynch
, is a wonderful account
of how a boy’s exploration of the bay where he lives
shows up miracles of nature. It’s a metaphor for how,
as adults, we miss so much simply because we’ve
stopped looking.
The beauty of the book is in the simple clarity of
the language, with the story told in a lyrical fashion
that is completely engaging. And it’s a funnily
accurate account of a teenage boy’s angst,
particularly concerning all things girly.
